JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Vespa bisa dibilang merupakan salah satu brand skuter legendaris di dunia. Eksistensinya bahkan sudah berlangsung lama, yakni sejak tahun 1946.
Namun, Vespa ternyata bukanlah brand yang jadi perintis sepeda motor berejenis skuter. Pasalnya jika dilihat catatan sejarah, ada beberapa brand skuter lain yang muncul lebih dulu dibanding brand asal Italia tersebut. Salah satunya Fuji Rabbit yang berasal dari Jepang.
Enam bulan sebelum Vespa memulai produksi pertamanya, Fuji Heavy Industries sudah memperkenalkan Fuji Rabbit seri S-1. Mengusung mesin 135cc, model yang dipakai Rabbit disebut terinspirasi dari model skuter Powell yang digunakan Tentara AS selama dan setelah Perang Dunia II.
Fuji Rabbit tercatat menjadi motor skuter pertama dari Jepang. Sayangnya, eksistensi Rabbit tak berlangsung lama. Memasuki 1968, Fuji Heavy Industries menghentikan produksi Rabbit karena ingin fokus memproduksi mobil merek Subaru yang masih bertahan hingga kini.

Selama lebih dari 20 tahun, Rabbit tercatat tidak pernah masuk ke Indonesia. Di luar Jepang, motor ini tercatat hanya beredar di Amerika Utara. Karena itu, butuh usaha ekstra bagi para kolektor penggemar skuter untuk mendapatkan motor ini. Seperti yang dilakukan Dodit Redjasa.
Pria yang terkenal di kalangan penggemar skuter di Tanah Air ini diketahui punya dua unit Rabbit, masing-masing lansiran tahun 1958 dan 1967. Kedua motor tersebut didapatnya dari kawasan Junk Yard yang ada di Thailand dan Malaysia pada sekitar tahun 2016. Kawasan Junk Yard merupakan area yang menjadi limbah otomotif.
Dari dua unit Rabbit yang dimiliki Dodit, satu masih full original. Dalam artian baik bodi dan mesin masih asli. Sedangkan satu lagi masih menggunakan bodi asli, namun mesin sudah diganti dengan milik Piaggio Zip.
"Yang satu dapatnya komplit, tapi bodinya baret-baret jadi tinggal dicat ulang. Kalau yang satu lagi mesinnya sudah hancur tidak bisa diperbaiki lagi," kata Dodit kepada Kompas.com, Senin (17/9/2018).

Saat mendapatkan motor tersebut, Dodit merogoh kocek Rp 12 juta untuk Rabbit yang dalam kondisi mesin hancur, dan Rp 18 juta untuk yang masih komplit. Untuk mengembalikan kembali keduanya menjadi layak pakai, dana yang dihabiskan mencapai masing-masing Rp 20 juta dan Rp 5 juta. Pengerjannya diserahkan ke Arayata Garage yang berlokasi di Lebak Bulus, Jakarta Selatan.
Kini dua unit Fuji Rabbit tersebut menjadi bagian dari 20 unit skuter yang dikoleksi Dodit. Selain Rabbit, Dodit juga diketahui memiliki skuter klasik merek Lambretta dan Peugeot.
Menurut Dodit, mengoleksi skuter klasik menjadi keasyikan tersendiri. Selain barang yang didapat berstatus langka, cara mendapatkannya juga terkadang jadi kenangan tersendiri.
"Ada yang pernah ditemukannya di kandang sapi, di tumpukan jerami. Biarpun kondisinya penyok, tapi masih bisa direstorasi," pungkas pria yang juga jadi ketua komunitas 946 Owner Club Indonesia ini.
