East Chicago, Indiana recently said farewell to one of its esteemed residents – Daniel Corrales Jr. He passed peacefully at St Catherine Hospital at age 81 on February 23, 2011, leaving behind an incredible legacy filled with service, commitment, and familial affection.
A Life of Service
Daniel Corrales Jr. was a man of resilience and dedication who served his nation honourably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His courage and perseverance during tough times demonstrated his character – his unwavering spirit and patriotism would return home when he took up employment with Inland Steel Company after retiring from military service; there he demonstrated both dedication and a hard work ethic that enabled him to provide for himself and his family, even during retirement itself – an eventful milestone in life that brought both loved ones as well as colleagues alike.
Family and Legacy
Daniel dedicated much of his life and energy to his family. Survived by son Ricardo Corrales; granddaughter Karissa Corrales and stepchildren Bert and Patricia Gonzalez, Daniel was an unwavering part of their lives; bereavement over Estella was heartbreaking but Daniel remained committed as father, grandfather and stepfather by providing love, guidance, support – exemplifying what it meant to be a patriarch who upheld family values.
Funeral services held for Daniel were an intimate gesture from his family to remember and honour his life and legacy. Hosted by Fife Funeral Home, these funeral services offered loved ones the chance to remember their legacy peacefully.
A Community’s Respect
Daniel Corrales Jr. was an iconic figure in East Chicago who touched many lives beyond just his immediate family. His commitment to work, country and family set an exemplary model that many followed; as a Korean War veteran himself he represented courage and sacrifice during an arduous war campaign; at Inland Steel Company his dedication and hard work were hallmarks of success that resonated widely in East Chicago’s industrial community.
